With over 15 years of clinical and assessment experience, Mary Hoisington has a comprehensive understanding and firsthand experience of the challenges faced by first responders. Originally born and raised in the Seattle area, she honed her expertise during more than a decade in Los Angeles County, where she gained diverse experience, including serving as a mental health co-responder with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Mary was instrumental in developing mental health co-responder programs for the Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach Police Departments. Her work involved responding to radio calls and critical incidents involving mentally ill, violent, or high-risk individuals, including SWAT call-outs, barricades, and suicide crises.
In addition to her co-responder work, Mary’s experience extends to corrections, where she provided crisis intervention, assessment, and mental health support within a county jail. Her commitment to professional development is reflected in certifications as a Law Enforcement Academy Instructor through the LAPD, completion of the FBI’s Level 1 Crisis Negotiation Training, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM I & II), and evidence-based practices including EMDR, CPT, and CBT.
Mary also maintains a private therapy practice, separate from her evaluation work, where she serves adults and first responders.

Mary Hoisington, LMFT, is a licensed mental health professional under Oregon License T1515 — a category expressly authorized under OAR 259-008-0010(11)(d) and OAR 259-008-0011(10)(d) to conduct pre-employment psychological evaluations for Oregon public safety agencies.
Over roughly two and a half years, Mary completed intensive supervised training and consultation with Kristine Falco, Psy.D., a psychologist with more than 20 years of experience conducting psychological evaluations of public safety professionals and candidates. That training focused on the competencies this work demands: psychological test administration and interpretation, personality assessment, integration of background and collateral information, and evaluation report writing for public safety selection. She continues monthly consultation with Dr. Falco, consults with other leading professionals in police and public safety psychology, and stays current through ongoing training in the field.
