PRE-EMPLOYMENT PSYCHOLOGICAL
EVALUATIONS
Oregon First Responder Evaluations (OFRE) provides pre-employment psychological evaluations for first responder positions across Oregon, including law enforcement, fire service, dispatch, and corrections. These evaluations support clear, well-supported hiring decisions for roles that carry authority, responsibility, and public trust.
OFRE uses a structured process aligned with POST standards and established professional guidelines. Each evaluation integrates standardized psychological testing, a one-on-one clinical interview, and a thorough review of agency-provided background materials, with additional records reviewed when indicated. The focus is on job-relevant psychological and behavioral functioning tied to safe, responsible, and effective performance in public safety roles.
OFRE is known for providing thorough and high-quality evaluations without unnecessary delays. Candidates are scheduled promptly, with remote and in-person options available. Once all relevant information has been obtained after the interview, a comprehensive written report is typically completed within 1–3 business days. Reports are clear, thorough, and practical, giving decision-makers what they need to move forward with confidence.
OIS post-critical incident
mental health support sessions
OFRE provides structured, short-term mental health support sessions following an officer-involved shooting. Sessions provide timely, individualized support for personnel impacted by critical incidents encountered in the course of duty.
Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) post-incident mental health support sessions are delivered in compliance with ORS 181A.790. Sessions focus on stabilization, normalization of stress responses, and short-term coping, while remaining distinct from fitness-for-duty evaluations, investigative processes, or employment decision-making.
